About the important things...

A few weeks ago I started my voluntary work in the Just Enough Uk. Its office is in a very well known building among the people who work in the cinema industry - Angels The costumiers - a place where work some of the oscars awarded for best costumes. JEUK has the support of the actress Ema Thompson and so this is not that surprising - the collaboration of people related to the same field.

So, this week it was the Global Summit to End Sexual Violence in Conflict and we had to be there - all the important NGOs were there (even Angelina Jolie). We went in the second day and for me it is always a bit disappointing or sad and motivating at the same time. I believe that is possible to one person make the difference. Not all the time. But in these occasions I believe in it again. There were several stories and testimonies from victims, families and people who are trying to do something to change bit by bit the horrible world in which we live in. Everyday there is at least one victim. Well, more than one. More than a hundred... And still most of us don't have a clue about it or even care to know. And it's sad. It was also sad to hear from some of the staff working in this summit for the NGOs that they don't know nothing about it too - for them it was just a job being there and being the face for the NGO. And so I heard ignorant things.
Motivating. Because there are people who are willing to go out their way, their own life to try and make a change in someone's life - to give them hope and make them smile again. And in this world there's all kind of people who are suffering, being hurt, being raped, for nothing - and it never seems enough. Tomorrow there will be another one going through the same. And it always seems there are more victims than protectors. But the good thing is there is always someone who won't give up. And will talk. And will act. And will be giving the example to others. Because Life is so much more than our own world... and if we can help even one person, why not?
